Nominations Now Closed for 2010 Awards

Entries are now closed for the 2010 World Food Awards. All entries have now been submitted to our high-profile judging panel who will mark each entrant against the criteria set in place for each category. The judges scores will be based on the nomination form and support material that has been received prior to the closing date.


Three finalists for each category will be announced on our website on Monday 13th September.


The winners will be announced on the night of the annual World Food Awards ceremony which takes place at the Hilton, Park Lane, London on Saturday 23rd October, 2010.


Each finalist is required to take part in interviews for Sony Television Entertainment Asia for inclusion in the World Food Awards video coverage.

World Food Award 2010 - Best New Product

The key criteria for this award are:

  • Has the product achieved an exceptional level of success, in terms of sales or reviews, in a short space of time?
  • Has the product owner realised a new market/demand gap for the product?
  • Does the product carry health benefits?
  • Does the product have the potential to become a mainstream line?

World Food Award 2010 - Best Packaging

The key criteria for this award are:

  • Is the packaging design innovative?
  • Is the design used for the packaging highly attractive and does it encompass qualities that make it stand out from its competing products? (provide images to support your nomination)
  • How green is the packaging? Have the manufacturers used environmentally friendly practices?
  • Does the packaging enforce GDA requirements?

World Food Award 2010 - Best Marketing Campaign

The key criteria for this award are:

  • How productive was the campaign vs. the sales figures for that product? (Provide figures to support the nomination, for instance, marketing spend vs. revenue per 12 month period)
  • What are the distinguishing creative concepts used for the marketing campaign, that differentiate it from it's competitor's marketing activity?
  • What is the level of contribution that the campaign has made in raising awareness of the product within world foods?
  • Have any new sales opportunities for the product been achieved as a result of the campaign?

World Food Award 2010 - Best Wholesaler

The key criteria for this award are:

  • Has the food wholesaler demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge of world foods in their range?
  • Has the food wholesaler experienced exceptional sales growth or maintained high levels of sales for a period of time as a result of their vast range of world foods?
  • Does the food wholesaler provide high levels of customer service in relation to product knowledge, availability, supply, deliveries, etc.?

World Food Award 2010 - Best Catering Supplier

The key criteria for this award are:

  • Has the food caterer demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge of world foods in their range?
  • Has the food caterer experienced exceptional sales growth or maintained high levels of sales for a period of time as a result of their vast range of world foods?
  • Does the food caterer provide high levels of customer service in relation to product knowledge, availability, supply, deliveries, etc.?

World Food Award 2010 - Restaurant of the Year

The key criteria for this award are:

  • Has this world food restaurant received exceptional reviews for its meals as commented by appropriate food critics, reviews or guides?
  • Is this world food restaurant providing a new and innovative concept to the world food scene?
  • Has this world food restaurant contributed to an increased awareness of the world food market as a whole and if so, how?

The key criteria for this award are:

  • Has this world food retailer served the needs of its local community in terms adapting its world food range to accommodate the community?
  • Has this world food retailer achieved sales growth by investing in its range as well as the quality of its premises?
  • Has the world food retailer contributed to an increased awareness of the world food market as a whole through its PR activity?

World Food Award 2010 - Best National Retailer

The key criteria for this award are:

  • Has this national retailer served the needs of local ethnic communities nationally?
  • Has this national food retailer achieved sales growth, invested in new stores in ethnic areas, expanded its world food range?
  • Has this national food retailer contributed to an increased awareness of the world food market through its PR activity?
  • Has this national food retailer invested heavily in providing the best price point for its customers?

World Food Award 2010 - Entrepreneur of the Year

Awarded to an individual who exemplifies entrepreneurial skills in the world food industry, in respect of:

  • Exceptional entrepreneurial spirit, with regards to high standards; risk taking; overcoming obstacles and perseverance.
  • A pioneer of new approaches and an ability to adapt to meet changing consumer needs. A high level of continued success, excellent leadership qualities and an inspiration to others.
  • An individual who has contributed towards an increased awareness of the world food industry as a whole.
  • A keen sense of corporate social responsibility, championing ethical values and making an active contribution to the wider community.

World Food Award 2010 - Lifetime Achievement Award

Awarded by the World Foods Association to an individual who has contributed to the world food industry over the years in their lifetime, in respect of:

  • Product introduction & knowledge.
  • Market relationships.
  • Development of the world food market.
  • Contribution to the company/s that they have worked for within the industry.
